​Tonatiuh has received many awards and recognitions in its almost 30 years of existence. These certificates have been awarded by the city of Salinas, Monterey county, the state of California, the USA, the Mexican Consulate, California’s Folklorico dance association, and the national Association of Folklorico dance. These awards vary from special recognitions, participation in events and hosting large conferences.
Under special awards and recognitions . Tonatiuh was chosen as champion of the arts in Monterey County in 2010, also that year the group was chosen to perform for the Ethnic Dance festival in San Francisco’s Palace for the Fine Arts. Two years later, In 2013 Tonatiuh performed a full show for ANGF ( The National Association of Folklorico Dance ) in Las Vegas and in 2015 the group was invited back for ANGF’s showcase in Ontario, CA.
