Delegación California
Asociación Nacional de Maestros de Danza Popular Mexicana
Delegación California is a state-wide organization of dancers and dance group directors dedicated to learning the art of Mexican folkloric dance in Mexico and bringing the most accurate and up-to-date information to California dance instructors, dancers, and dance enthusiasts. The organization is a branch of the Asociación Nacional de Maestros de Danza Popular Mexicana or ANMDPM, which offers conferences twice per year in different states of Mexico and the United States. Dance directors from California have been a part of the Association since 2001. In 2011, Rosa Gonzalez was sworn in as a delegate making Delegación California an official branch of the association.
Since 2011, dozens of dancers and dance directors have attended the conferences learning in detail the dances of the different states where the conferences are held. Dancers bring back their knowledge to share with their local dance groups and communities. In addition to attending conferences, Delegación California offers workshops and events to showcase dances and related cultural information learned during the conferences in Mexico. Delegación California is currently hosting a conference that will take place in Fresno, CA Spring of 2025. During the conference, members of ANMDPM as well as local dancers will be able to learn about the folklore of the United States such as square dance, bailes Californios, swing, and line dance as well as selected dances from some Mexican states.
Delegación California currently functions as an unincorporated non-profit organization under Tonatiuh Danzantes del Quinto Sol, a dance group based out of Salinas, California. Tonatiuh was established in 1992 and was granted non-profit status in 2014. The dance group has agreed to act as Fiscal Sponsor on behalf of Delegación California for the purpose of developing, organizing, and operating dance workshops, events and a state-wide conference.

For the First time in 40 years Delegación will be hosting the Conference for the ANMDPM. This flyer shows the most popular events open to the public to take place during the conference week. Most are free to attend with the exception of the Festival Internacional, which will showcase dance styles from all over the world. Please join us for one or all of these amazing events!

Happening the Same week as the Congreso will de Festival de los Danzantes. A partnership between Delegation California, ANMDPM, and Fresno State Danzantes De Aztlan.
